The company has decided to cancel its legacy verified program due to the subscription plan. Although this is not sudden, but Twitter owner Elon Musk had told about this in December 2022 itself that all the legacy blue checks will be removed in a few months. According to Musk, these checks were given in a corrupt and foolish manner.

What needs to be done for Blue Checkmarks to remain?

Users who want to retain their blue checkmarks after April 1 will need to sign up for a Twitter Blue subscription. Before this change, Twitter had 4.20 lakh verified accounts. This subscription is a bit expensive for brands and organizations. Subscriptions to the Verified for Organizations program start at $1,000 per month. Business or non-profit accounts will receive a gold checkmark and square avatar upon subscription.

Organizations can also bring any individual or entity under this plan for an additional charge of $50. This linked account will get a verification mark and will also get a badge which will have the profile picture of their parent company. Now the batch will appear next to the checkmark.

Twitter’s subscription plan was launched again in December

About three months ago in December 2022, Twitter relaunched its subscription program Twitter Blue. Through this, users were launched verified blue checkmark and some special features at a fee of $ 8 every month. The service was launched in India on February 8 at a monthly charge of Rs 650 for web and Rs 900 for mobile devices. Subsequently, on February 18, Twitter announced plans to stop SMS-based two-factor authentication for Blue subscribers.

How important is Twitter Blue for the company

Apart from advertisements, Twitter has brought Twitter Blue to increase revenue in other ways. Musk told the company’s employees in November last year that he plans to get at least half of his revenue from subscriptions. The company has also brought Twitter Blue so that it can reduce its dependence on advertisements for earning.
