New Delhi: The Central Government has launched ‘mPassport Police App’ to speed up the passport verification process. This step will not only streamline the passport verification process but will also help in timely updating and issuance of passports.

Ministry of External Affairs released this information

The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday announced that it has introduced an ‘mPassport Police App’ to further streamline and speed up the passport issuance system. The Regional Passport Office in Delhi said, police verification is an integral part of the passport issuance system. Several steps have been taken to streamline and speed up the process. To further speed up the process, the Ministry of External Affairs has introduced the mPassport Police App.

Home Minister Shah announced

on Thursday, on the occasion of Delhi Police Foundation Day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah dedicated 350 mobile tablets to the personnel of Special Branch of Delhi Police. This will make the entire process of police verification and report submission digital and paperless.

Officials said the verification using the tablet will reduce the verification time from 15 days to five days, effectively reducing the passport issuance deadline by 10 days. The Regional Passport Office has said that it is committed to efficient service delivery and ‘Digital India’.

Earlier in Delhi, the time limit for doing police verification was fixed in 14 days. In this, after receiving the application for verification, the police personnel of the local police station used to go to the applicant’s house. After this he used to prepare the report, then send it in offline mode. This whole process used to take more than two weeks. Now technology will be used in the new process.

This whole process will be paperless. The app created by the Ministry of External Affairs will be put in the tab. On receipt of the online application, the police verification officer will go to the applicant’s house and will give the final report after completing the whole process directly through the app while standing at the door.

The tablet will have GPS which will also tell whether the verification officer has visited the applicant’s house or not. According to the police officer, many applicants can be verified with this app in a day.
