Government employees were expecting an increase in DA for a long time. However, now the DA has been increased by the government and it has also been announced by the Finance Minister.

Actually, the West Bengal government has announced to increase the dearness allowance (DA) for all the employees and retired persons of its state government. The West Bengal government has announced to increase the DA by three percent for the employees of its state and for the retired people.

The West Bengal state budget for the financial year 2023-24 was presented in the state assembly on Wednesday through state finance minister (independent charge) Chandrima Bhattacharya. In many big announcements, this time’s budget speech has suggested measures to support new businesses and manufacturing industry. Along with this, Finance Minister (Independent Charge) of West Bengal Chandrima Bhattacharya announced to increase DA by three percent from March.

Dearness allowance-

Earlier in November last year, state government employees protested outside the West Bengal Assembly in Kolkata demanding a hike in dearness allowance at par with central government employees. The employees said that since the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission, the Mamta Banerjee government has not given them revised dearness allowance.

Startup

This time also an important announcement has been made by the West Bengal government regarding startups. Chandrima Bhattacharya in her budget announced Rs 350 crore startup fund to extend up to Rs 5 lakh to young entrepreneurs. He said that the SGDP of Bengal is estimated to increase by 8.4 percent.
