New Delhi. Bihar government has announced a hike in the salary of local municipal body employees under the Seventh Pay Commission. The financial benefit of salary under the Seventh Pay Commission will be considered effective from April 1, 2017.

This means that the government will give arrears of about 90 months and it is almost certain that lakhs of rupees will come into the accounts of every employee. This decision was taken in the Bihar Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Apart from this, many new announcements were made after today’s cabinet meeting.

Local body employees to get benefit of 7th pay scale

Taking a big decision in the interest of local body employees, the cabinet has approved the proposal to give them the seventh pay scale. However, the additional amount that will be spent in giving the seventh pay scale will have to be borne by the local municipal bodies from their own treasury.

The conceptual benefit of the seventh pay scale will be payable to the civic employees from January 1, 2016, while the financial benefit will be payable from April 1, 2017. This financial benefit will be given only after the wage fixation is verified by the Urban Development and Housing Department.

Other decisions of Nitish cabinet

  • Rs 40.86 crore approved for Rabi Pulses Promotion Scheme in 2024-25.
  • Approval of creation and conversion of Group A and B posts of Bihar Agriculture Service Category Nine.
  • Bihar Direct Appointment of Outstanding Players (Amendment) Rules 2024 got approval.
  • ₹32.66 crore approved for construction of building of Industrial Training Institute, Raxaul.
  • 49.27 crores for construction of ROB between Khagaria railway station and Umeshnagar railway station on Khagaria-Parihara-Bakhari link road.
  • ₹75.38 crore approved for construction of approach road ROB between Nawada-Warsaliganj railway station.
  • ₹106.05 crore approved for construction of approach road ROB between Darbhanga-Laheriyasarai railway station.
  • The proposal to dismiss from service the then Sub Registrar of Purnia, Umlesh Prasad was accepted.
  • The proposal to get the budget booklets printed from Saraswati Press, Kolkata was approved.
  • Extension of tenure for three years on nomination basis to M/s Software & Education & Research for maintenance of software working in Finance Department.
  • Proposal to appoint retired High Court judge Vinod Kumar Sinha as Chairman of the Law Commission for the extended tenure of Bihar Commission approved.
  • Proposal to celebrate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on August 16 as a state function approved.
