New Delhi. Bihar government has announced a hike in the salary of local municipal body employees under the Seventh Pay Commission. The financial benefit of salary under the Seventh Pay Commission will be considered effective from April 1, 2017.
This means that the government will give arrears of about 90 months and it is almost certain that lakhs of rupees will come into the accounts of every employee. This decision was taken in the Bihar Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Apart from this, many new announcements were made after today’s cabinet meeting.
Local body employees to get benefit of 7th pay scale
Taking a big decision in the interest of local body employees, the cabinet has approved the proposal to give them the seventh pay scale. However, the additional amount that will be spent in giving the seventh pay scale will have to be borne by the local municipal bodies from their own treasury.
The conceptual benefit of the seventh pay scale will be payable to the civic employees from January 1, 2016, while the financial benefit will be payable from April 1, 2017. This financial benefit will be given only after the wage fixation is verified by the Urban Development and Housing Department.
