The government increases Dearness Allowance (DA) twice a year on January 1 and July 1. The government had increased the dearness allowance by 4 per cent to 38 per cent in September before Diwali. This hike was considered applicable from 1 July. Earlier, the government had increased DA in March. Then the government had increased the DA by 3 percent to 34 percent under the 7th Pay Commission.

18-month DA arrears

Employees are constantly demanding from the government to increase this DA.

Fitment factor to be revised

Central government employees have been demanding for a long time to increase the minimum basic pay from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. He is demanding the government to increase the fitment factor from 2.57 per cent to 3.68 lakh per cent. If the government announces to increase the fitment factor, then the salary of the employees will increase. At present 18,000 is the minimum basic salary, which the employees want to increase.
