Dearness allowance will increase soon

Sources say that the state government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will take this decision after the central government announces a hike in dearness allowance. The central government may announce a hike in dearness allowance in the last week of September or the first week of October. This hike in dearness allowance will benefit about eight lakh employees of the state government. However, this move will put an additional burden of about Rs 3,000 crore on the state government treasury.

Non-gazetted employees will get bonus

Along with dearness allowance, non-gazetted employees are also expected to be given bonuses. Bonuses are determined on the basis of basic salary and dearness allowance. Last year employees received a bonus of around Rs 7,000, and this year the amount may be slightly higher.

Discussion on the formation of 8th Pay Commission

The demand for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission has been raised by the employee association. However, at present there is no such proposal under consideration with the government. On July 30, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary told the Rajya Sabha that two requests were received for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission in June 2024. But at present there is no such proposal with the government. It is worth noting that the 7th Pay Commission was constituted in February 2014 and its recommendations were implemented from January 1, 2016. Usually, the Central Government constitutes a Pay Commission every 10 years to revise the salaries of government employees.
