7th Pay Commission: The Central Government has issued a clarification regarding Dearness Relief (DR) for the pensioners of the Central Government.
The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has issued a clarification on the benefits of DR being given to retired Central Government employees. The government has said that the calculation of DR is given on the basic pension. An office memorandum has also been issued in this regard.
Government clarified on DR
On pension calculation, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare said that a lot of requests were being received in this matter and the applicants were seeking clarification on what the basic pension would be calculated. Dearness Relief in Pension is calculated on Basic Pension. This will make it clear on which DR on pension is calculated.
Enhanced Dearness Relief (DR)
Before Diwali, the central government had recently announced to increase the dearness allowance by 4 percent for its employees. The Cabinet had last month approved the release of additional installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) at the rate of 4 per cent for central employees and pensioners.

This decision of the government will benefit 41.85 lakh central employees and 69.76 lakh pensioners. Anurath Thakur said that under this, dearness allowance and relief installment at the rate of 4 percent will be released for central employees and pensioners. After this, many states of the country have increased dearness allowance and dearness relief.
