7th Pay Commission: The Union Cabinet is expected to meet today. Changes in Dearness Allowance (DA) can be considered in the meeting. Central government employees and pensioners have been waiting for the announcement of hike in DA for some time now. If media reports are to be believed, then today a big announcement related to this can be made. The DA of government employees is increased twice a year. The first hike is done by the government from January to June, while the second is from July to December.
How much can DA increase?
It has been said in the reports that this time the Dearness Allowance may increase by up to 4 percent. This will take the total DA to 38 per cent. In view of the recent All India CPI-IW data for the month of May, the government is expected to increase the DA by 4 per cent.
Employees may get good news
AICP index for the month of May is an important factor in determining DA. This indicates the possibility of an increase in the DA of the Central Government. In the month of July, the government can bring good news for the employees. It may be noted that the All India CPI-IW for April, 2022 stood at 127.7 with an increase of 1.7 points. Data from the Ministry of Labor and Employment shows that it grew by 1.35 per cent over the previous month, as compared to a growth of 0.42 per cent in the same month a year ago.
The AICPI figure in December 2021 was 125.4. But, it fell 0.3 points to 125.1 in January 2022. The All India CPI-IW for February 2022 decreased by 0.1 points and stood at 125.
