7th Pay Commission: Changed rules regarding promotion of central employees, know when DA will increase

The dearness allowance (DA Hike) hike is being awaited by the government employees. Meanwhile, the rules have been changed by the Central Government regarding the promotion of employees under the Seventh Pay Commission . The central government has made changes in the minimum service qualification required for its employees.

An announcement was made by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on September 20, in which it was said that the promotion of central employees will be decided according to different criteria and qualifications. The DoPT said the revised norms may be incorporated in the recruitment rules, service rules and suitable amendments. In such a situation, all the departments and the ministry have been requested to make amendments according to the changes in these rules.

what has been changed

For promotion from Level 1 to Level 2, the employee should have at least 3 years of service. Whereas from Level 2 to Level 3 for 3 years, from Level 3 to Level 4 for 8 years, from Level 3 to Level 4 and from Level 4 to Level 5, the service for all is 5 years. At the same time, for promotion from Level 6 to Level 12, an employee needs to remain in the job for at least 12 years. The duration is 10 years for Level 4 to Level 6, Level 6 to Level 10, Level 11 to Level 13, and 9 years for Level 4 to Level 11.

What the DoPT told the departments

Instructions to revise the minimum qualifying service required for promotion as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix, Pay Level have not been issued so far and proposals for formulation, amendment of Recruitment Rules, Service Rules are still under consideration. However, the need was felt to determine the minimum qualifying service for promotion as per the pay level in the Revised Pay Matrix.

Will the dearness allowance of employees increase?

Decision may come soon regarding the increase in inflation of central employees. According to reports, a decision on DA hike can be taken during the cabinet meeting on September 28. However, no official statement has been issued regarding the DA hike yet.
