7th Pay Commission: There is big and good news for the central employees and pensioners amidst waiting for the increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief. The expectation of payment of the arrears of 18 months of dearness allowance and dearness relief withheld during the global pandemic Corona increased once again.

Continuous pressure is being put on the government regarding the arrears of DA arrears from the employees’ organizations. According to reports, on August 18, 2022, the Secretary (Staff Side) of the National Council, Shiv Gopal Mishra, has written a letter to the Cabinet Secretary and the President of the National Council, demanding payment of arrears of dearness allowance and dearness relief for one and a half years.

According to the information, Shiv Gopal Mishra has referred to the Supreme Court’s decision dated 08 February 2021 in a letter to the Cabinet Secretary, in which the Supreme Court had said that due to the economic crisis, the salary and pension of the employees can be stopped immediately. , but it will have to be given back to the employees when the situation improves. This is the right of the employees. Payment should be made as per law.

According to reports, a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary may be held soon in this regard. However, nothing has been said by the government on this yet.

Let us tell you that the central government had increased the dearness allowance by 11 percent from July 2021. After that dearness allowance has been increased twice. The total dearness allowance reached 34 per cent. But, after freezing for one and a half years, there was no talk about DA arrears. The government has made it clear that dearness allowance was frozen at the time of Corona. So there is no option of arrears.

According to a rough estimate, the DA arrears of Level-1 employees range from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554. DA of Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200 is drawn on employees at Level-13 (7th CPC Basic Pay Scale of Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,15,900) or Level-14 (Pay Scale). The amount of arrears will be different for different grades of employees.

In fact, dearness allowance and dearness relief are given to government employees and public sector employees and pensioners. DA is given to improve the living conditions of government employees. It is given to government employees, public sector employees and pensioners. The reason for giving it is that the standard of living of the employees should be maintained even in the rising inflation.
