According to the data presented in Parliament, fake Rs 500 notes increased from 21,865 million pieces (MPC) in FY 2018-19 to 91,110 million pieces in FY 2022-23. In FY 2023-24, it decreased by 15 percent and the number reached 85,711 million pieces.

According to the rules of the Reserve Bank, if you have old or damaged 500 rupee notes, then now you do not need to worry. Because now you can go to any branch and change your torn 500 rupee note. If any bank wants to change it, then you can complain directly to that bank through the RBI portal.
